Importing citations from PubMed into RefWorks is a two step process.
Step 1: Download your citations from PubMed
a. Perform your search in PubMed.
b. Mark the records you wish to import into RefWorks. You can use the PubMed clipboard to mark records from multiple searches.
c. Click the "Send To" link in the upper right corner of the page.
d. Choose the destination "File," and the format "Medline."
e. Click "Create File." (The file you download will be called pubmed_result.txt.)
Step 2: Uploading citations into RefWorks
a. Open RefWorks and login.
b. Mouse over "References" in the top left corner, and chose the "Import" option.
c. The import screen will appear. Choose "NLM PubMed" as the Import Filter from the dropdown list. The database should automatically populate to PubMed.
d. Click on "Choose File" and select the file that you downloaded from PubMed
e. Select the folder (if any) into which you would like the references placed.
f. Click "import" at the bottom right of the import screen.
